Directions
From I95 take exit 57 Lodge Walterboro. At the end of the exit ramp turn left. At the first traffic light, turn left. At the third traffic light BP Gas Station on left turn left onto SC HWY 64. Follow SC HWY 64 approximately 15 miles toward Jacksonboro. At Jacksonboro turn left onto 17 north toward Charleston. Do not take 17A. 17A is approximately 15 miles before HWY 17. After approximately 7 miles there will be a sign on the right side of the road for HWY 174 20 miles to Edisto Beach. Turn right onto HWY 174. You will cross a railroad crossing. After approximately 2 to 3 miles, HWY 174 will turn right through the town of Adams Run. Continue on HWY 174 until you reach the Edisto Beach town limits approximately 15 20 miles. The Edisto Beach welcome center is the first building on the right, on the corner of HWY 174 and Jungle Road.
Take HWY 17 south for approximately 15 to 20 miles until you come to a sign that will read Edisto Beach 20 miles. When you come to this sign, get into the far left hand lane and turn left across the railroad crossing onto HWY 174. After 2 to 3 miles HWY 174 will turn right through the town of Adams Run. Continue on HWY 174 until you reach Edisto Beach town limits approximately 15 to 20 miles. The Edisto Beach welcome center is the first building on the right, on the corner of HWY 174 and Jungle Road.
The sands of time seemed to have stowed away on Edisto Island. Not only is this one of the least commercialized beaches in all of South Carolina it is certainly one of the most beautiful. The scenery is almost poetic, where an hours entertainment might mean watching snowy egrets glide through magnolia perfumed air. Or you just may want to keep gazing at the magnificent mossdraped oaks, strolling through the stately antebellum plantation homes or hunting for the rare shells found only on this lovely, quiet island.
